Artist Statement

In his poem, "Anecdote of Men by the Thousands", Wallace Stevens writes:

There are men whose words
Are as natural sounds
Of their places
As the cackle of toucans
In the place of toucans

I love that stanza, and try in my work to embody what I think Stevens is getting at: a personal human vision at home in the landscape that nurtured it.
